Kickstarting my Nebula Project!
Update: Funding was a success! Thank you backers, supporters and attendees.
I’m doing a site-specific clay graffiti installation in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan for ArtPrize. I’m so excited, it’s going to be an awesome 19 days. My birthday is on September 27th during the artsy shenanigans, it will be the best birthday ever. I get to share my new work and, at the same time, share gardening with people. Yip!
I would be as happy as a spaceship of kittens if you could help me out by spreading the word on social networks and other interweb hangouts.
invisible cars in the morning
Here’s some light paintings of traffic on Interstate 84 going to and from Portland at 6am in the morning.
faded printer beauty
i found a Canon PIXMA ip1700 for freesies on the sidewalk the other day. it had a little sign on it that said “FREE prints fine, a little streaky”. it was also a little wet because it had been raining for an hour or so. anyway, i dried the printer out, cleaned it up, put a cat sticker on it, and named it Sassypants.
the print test sheet is beautiful in its own way, faded and sans magenta.
then i thought, perhaps it would be interesting to see a drawing printed with the low cartridges. i printed my most recent color drawing.
what was a broken printer to one is an unexpected charm to another.
repurposed sign for Rainbow Lotus
I repainted an old sign to make a new sign for the Rainbow Lotus. Even though the plywood had been stored outside for a while, it was still in good shape.
rocks are purdy
recently i was at the Oregon coast, the beaches are so rocky and beautiful.
“A pile of rocks ceases to be a rock when somebody contemplates it with the idea of a cathedral in mind.”
found object jewelry
wearable objects made from Legos, dinosaur toys, and Kraft Handi-snack sticks. there’s some metalsmithing magic mixed in there, too.
text-ccessory
Recently I made Text-ccessory, a piece that proposes wearing status updates and tweets as an interesting new form of adornment.
p.s. Text-ccessory will be at the interactive exhibition Would You Wear This?, Exquisite Corpse Gallery for the month of November, I would love for you to check it out if you are in the Kzoo area!
